Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

IOLA Alternative?

I am due to receive Workers' Compensation Board's certification of my out-of-court (personal injury)

Settlement and have recently fired my lawyer, as I

did not possess absolute trust and faith in the

integrity of the process, which woulld have had him

placing the entire amount into his firm's IOLA

account. He was less than forthcoming with information

relative to the account, hence, he is: history. The

problem is that the judge will not release the funds

until the outstanding legal fees are paid, but I don't

have an attorney to receive the settlement, anymore. I

want to know what alternative- other than a private

attorney's IOLA account- account might the judge permit

the funds to be held in until the outstanding fees have

been paid?

Re: IOLA Alternative?

They can prob be "paid into court" and held in the finance dept. They will take a small fee.
