letter of administration
When filing a petition for letters of administration, does it matter which county the papers are filed? My decendant was deceased in New York City county. Can I file the petition in Queens county? Thanks.

Petition must be filed in the county where decedent passed or domiciled.

A petition for Letters of Administration should be filed in the county where the decedent lived.
