Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Hello, I live in NY state and my uncle passed away in Feb of 2015, to date I have gotten no updates or status from the lawyer handling the estate. I have tried emailing and phone calls but this lawyer has not responded back. Is it common for the estate to take this long to resolve? Do I need to find another lawyer to go after the first one to resolve this?
