Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

I live in New York State. If my spouse dies and have high medical bills from his treatment am as his wife am I responsible to pay those off using MY life insurance cash value along with any retirement money's I have saved. Such as IRA's , Pensions, Annuities etc?
