living trusts

What is the average cost to have a living trust written? Is it better than a will for the adult children?

Re: living trusts

I have done this for a number of NY resident clients. The cost depends upon what the trust is designed to do, such as be revocable, just to avoid probate; or for estate planning with skip generation provisions; possible Medicaid planning, etc. Normal costs run from $600 up, depending on time involved, how much I need to do with the client. Average cost is about $750-$800.

Re: living trusts

The advantage to the adult children is that there are no probate costs provided the trust is properly set up and the whole process is quick and most important, private.

Fess range from $500 to $1000 dependent on the number of transfers into the trust and the complexity and purposes of the trust.

Initial telephone consultation is without cost or obligation.
