Re: How do I locate my deceased grandmother's will?

First, you should check her last place of residence. If it is not found there, check all banks where she maintained accounts to see if she had a safe deposit box; if so, a Court proceeding will be required to open the box and inventory the contents. If you do not find a safe deposit box (or it's not in the box), your options include, but are not limited to: (1) advertise in the local paper and/or New York Law Journal, (2) ask neighbors if they knew who was her attorney, (3) if you see the office of a local attorney, stop in, (4) if she owned a home-apartment, get a copy of the deed-shares and see if an attorney is listed, (5) review any found checkbook registers to see if she wrote a check to an attorney.

Good Luck on your search.

If I can help you with the Probate (if the Will is found) or an Administration (if no Will is found), please do not hesitate to contact me.
