Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

if my mother passes away and it is in the will that i can live there as long as i want.So i have to put my name on the deed

If you are only given a life estate, your name does not go on the deed.

I agree with David. Names on new Deed are the remaindermen, not a person merely having a life estate. Reference should be made in the new Deed to the life estate, so its existance is made public.
