Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
I was named Beneficiary in a Will to the contents of an apartment (of little value). In addition, we found a sum of money in the apartment which we turned over,in its entierty, to the Executor of
the Estate.
Under these circumstances, am I entitled to request a Final Accounting of the probated Will,
and is this document required to be filed in Surrogates Court (New York State) as part
of the public record.
Thank you very much

As an heir to specific assets, you are not entitled to an accounting of anything beyond what you might be entitled to receive. Only residuary heirs are entitled to a full accounting of the estate.
