Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

pay listed beneficiaries in will then debt? I am executor of aunt's will, she listed in her will $1000 to each grandniece/nephew (7 children in total). She has approx. $9000 of assets. Lived in NJ. I got letters of testamentary. Pay grandnieces/nephews out of estate account now? heard from one credit card company re balance she had. who gets $ first?

I have not seen the Will, but I presume that it states creditors get paid first, as most Wills provide.
