Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Probate

My grandmother and grandfather have both passed. My grandfather will been gone four years in July, and my grandmother passed just recently. How long does it take for a will to go into probate? When can those named in the will expect to receive a copy of the will? There is reason to believe that my grandmother was given papers to sign, not know what they were.

Re: Probate

I would first go to the Surrogate Court in whatever county they resided in. If there was a will it would have to be filed there. I would also obtain a copy of their death certificates and bring them with you. They would then be able to search their records to see if the wills were filed there.

After you have done that, if you want to retain the services of this office, please feel free to contact me.
