Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
Is probate necessary?
My mother died a few months ago. She was a widow, and her will names me as executrix and sole beneficiary. No one in my family intends to contest the will. Does it still need to go through probate?

Not necessarily. If all of her property was jointly owned with you and if there are no estate tax issues, probate might not be required.
