Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

If a property in probate still has a mortgage attached to it, who pays for the monthly installments? Would it be the personal representative? If so, what if that person is the attorney?

The executor has responsibility to protect the assets of the estate. Payments should come out of the estate until the property is transferred and the mortgage paid off.
