Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Received a Waiver of Process Form, but I am not listed in the will

I received a Waiver of Process Form today from an attorney in NY,and a copy of my Great Aunt's Will that is from 2001 (she died last month). I am not mentioned in the will, nor is my father, who is deceased. My sister and two cousins also received the letter. Why should we sign it if we are not mentioned in the will?

This is a standard procedure where there is a Will. Everyone who might have an interest in the estate, if there was no Will, even if not mentioned in the Will, is notified of the probate so if they want to file a caveat (fight the Will) they have proper notice. Unless you have some objection to the probate (such as if you were a child of the decedent but not mentioned) just sign the papers and return them. If you need more information, contact me directly.
