Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

How do I request a copy of the will from the Executor or law firm handling the estate? Do I need to send a certified letter? I have contacted the courthouse where (I believe) the estate is being handled but they will charge me a fee just to check. The executor is also a lawyer with her own firm in NY. She and I are not getting along so I was wondering what would be a good way to get the information I need.
