? What t do when there's a death

My daughters father, my exhusband committed suicide last week. The family doesn't have much to do with us, but says there is a will that everything was left to my daughter who is 18 and the only child. The family has cleaned the home out & took the vehicles. We haven't heard from them and I'm not sure what to do. Could you give me some information? Thanks, Shawna

The executor of the Will needs to file a petition for Probate in the Surrogate's Court in the County in which the decedent resided before death.
