Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
Trusts
A trust was set up for my handicapped sister by my Mother. New York State. I am a residual beneficiary of the trust when my sister passes away. It has been nearly a year since my Mother passed away, I requested an accounting of the trust and was told I was not entitled to one. I would think all assets would need to be described to beneficiaries. Thank you.

Re: Trusts
As one of the heirs of the estate as well as being the residual beneficiary of your sister's trust, you should be entitled to an accounting. This assures all terms of the estate and the trust are being met and that neither is being "milked", as well as being properly invested to assure both the lifetime and residual beneficiaries are properly protected. I suggest retaining a local attorney familiar with these matters and suing the trustee if he does not comply.
