Valid Will in NY
What is neccesary to have a will be valid under NY law? Does it have to be notarized & how many witnesses must sign?

A Will does not have to be notarized. You need two adult, non-felon witnesses who reside in the state where the Will is to be executed. The witnesses should not be beneficiaries of the Will.

A will can still be valid but still be ineffectual for the purpose of probate. A valid will that can't be probated is useless and a waste of time and money. You should strongly consider having an attorney experienced with wills help you draft an effective will. If you'd like, you can call us.
