wife died

if i live in new york state and i was

not on my wife's checking account

what are my options to access that

account?

You would have to commence either a probate or an administration proceeding with the Surrogate's Court. Upon receipt of letters testamentary (with a will) or letters administration (without a will), you would be able to access her account.
