Wifes mothers estete

My wifes mother sold her house to a neice,the neice

said she would make payments to my wife and two brothers

her mother passed away,my wife hasent recived any thing

she gets runaround from the exacutor, the two brothers

are getting paid. the neice said she would garentee

payment in her letter.dont know if the will is closed or

not,it has been a year and half

what legal does my wife have.

You do not say if the "debt" is represented by a Mortgage or just a simple promise (verbal or written). This is critical as the terms of the Mortgage control. If there is one, it should be part of the estate unless it states who gets payments other than your mother-in-law.. The Will would control who shares in any payments. What does the Will say? Your wife should have gotten a copy of the Will. If not, a copy can be obtained from the Surrogate's office. Is you wife mentionewd in the Will? What does she get from the estate? More information is needed to respond to your question.
