Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Is it necessary to have a will drawn by a lawyer in the state where you live? Is it possible to live in one state and have a lawyer who practices in another state create your will?

Yes, but be certain you inform teh lawyer of where you live and work, so she or he can tailor the will properly. Good luck!

I agree, but caution that certain requirements differ from state to state, such as witnessing, and notarization language, and verification, plus self-proving Will language. If these items are not correct, the probate may be rejected and the Will declared no good. Always best is to have the Will done by a local lawyer with expertise in these rules.
