Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

will

when my father who was divorced from my mother and remarried passed away .{21 years ago } my sister ,brother and myself assumed he had a will .We recently dicovered he did not have a will. we were never notified.his estate apparently went to his wife and their one biological child and two step children.we would like to know if we are entitled to any share of his estate. this took place in westchester new york

Yes, you were entitled to a share of his estate under New York's default inheritance laws (intestacy). You may be able to recover some portion of what was originally entitled to you. Your first step is to check and see if your father's estate was ever administered in Court.
