These forgoten people have not been incontact with my dad for over fifteen years . None of them are beneficiarys of insurance or any trusts. I am looking to make things go as smooth as possible for everyones sake.

Re: Can a will be updated by an executor

An executor may not "amend" or "update" a will but may have other discretion available.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line, or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.

Re: Can a will be updated by an executor

You cannot amend or update the will. However, if any of the other individuals make claims against the estate, then the executor can settle those claims.

I would be available to discuss this matter with you further if you'd like.

No, you may amend or alter the terms of the will. However, depending on the amounts in question, you may be able to take certain steps to pacify your relatives.
