Legal Question in Workers Comp in New York
Can I get another attorney as my current lawyer seems to be ineffective. How is that viewed by a new lawyer. I have a worker comp case in nys. Thanks

As a client you ALWAYS have the right to hire a different attorney. However there are many factors that a new attorney will want to consider before taking on your case (and you should consider these factors also because you don't want to hire the same problem!).
First, what is the real problem. Is it lack of communication, lack of knowledge, something else?
Second, where is your case, are you close to resolving it, have you been out of work a long time, are you confused?
As a "new attorney" I ask myself a few questions
- how old is this case
- is the case in the middle of testimony
- does my new client have an idea of what he or she wants
- will it be worthwhile to take the case on (there can be limitations on the amount of a fee taken so this will be a factor since you cannot pay your attorney directly)
- do I have the knowledge to handle this type of case
Think about these questions and DO NOT be afraid to ask your current attorney the right questiions and the attorny you are going to hire the right questions. Good luck. For more information about hiring the right workers compensation attorney you can check out my website for specific answers.
