Legal Question in Workers Comp in New York
My employer did not pay my wages
I am trying to sue my ex employer. he owes me 13,600 USD. The location of work was Manhattan (NYC). What court should I file my case in?? SMALL CLAIMS COURT only takes cases below 5000 USD.
What form/s should I fillout for the court??
(The lawyers I have met take fees which is more than what I am owed)
Can anybody suggest the (Type of court)court and forms to file??

Re: My employer did not pay my wages
The correct court is 'NY City Civil Court'. That court will handle claims up to $25,000.00.
You need a notice and complaint with service. As a small point, 'workers compensation' is an area of law covering workers injured while working. Your case is a contract case and that is why you are quoted huge sums to represent you.
I would be happy to assist you in this action for much, much less than you have been quoted.
For example, I can draft all of your filing documents for $300.
You are welcome to a consultation for no fee.
