As a practicing attorney who handles workers compensation cases you may not beleive this answer but you do not necessarily need an attorney! The real issue is why you are going to a hearing. In New York Workers Compensation there are often a series of hearings. These hearings can be for everything from approving medical care to figuring out the proper amount of money you should get to what your final settlement should be. Your best bet is to consult at least one if not more attorneys. There is no charge to do so and the attorney can only recover a fee if he or she obtains money for you. The right attorney for you certainly would work in your best interest (and theirs!) to get a good settlement.
