Do lawyers get in trouble?

Is there a penalty for an attorney that doesn't show up to a hearing for a client?

No. Just get another lawyer. Typically workers comp lawyers have to have hundreds of clients b/c they make so little on the cases. However, the lawyer should've gotten a per diem attorney to represent you at the hearing. Unfortunately, sometimes that is not possible.
