Legal Question in Workers Comp in New York

questionable lawyer ethic?

I am involved in a WC case against my employer which is county government. I have retained an attorney only after the judge suggested it. At my 3rd hearing (1st one with the lawyer), he advises me that he will be seeking the position of COUNTY ATTORNEY. Prior to obtaining an attorney, I had written to the Senior Law Judge at the WC Board asking for a review of my case. It has been nearly 3 months with no response. So, when I called to inquire as to why there was no response, I was told that ''he'' did review and several phone calls later, advised that ''he'' changed my next hearing to be 3 weeks earlier than scheduled. No problem for me. Here's my question...My lawyer sends me a letter stating that ''THEY'' (my employer's carrier) ''won't have time to get an IME and will therefore ask for an adjournment'' and also that ''THEY'' will end up ''appealing the case, which would put it back 6 months''. He sent a copy of this letter to THEM, underlining those two points - without any conversation with ME, his client. 1st- the IME was performed in SEPTEMBER. 2nd - is it in MY best interest for my lawyer to literally ADVISE ''them'' on how they should respond to this?? Especially if he is seeking a position as ATTORNEY FOR MY EMPLOYER???
