Legal Question in Workers Comp in New York
on returning to work from being out on workers comp, i was suspended for one day. the reason for me being suspended was i slipped on ice(which caused my injury). i was only out for 19 work days.i was told, i had to take a 10 question test on slips, trips, and falls and then go home without pay. i have worked at verizon communications for 15 years and i have never been disciplined.is this workers comp discrimination?

From the description you have provided, this is NOT workers compensation discrimination. That particular part of the workers compensation law is very limited in New York and comes into play when you have been wrongfully denied benefits because you have made a workers compensation claim. Here, while you were suspended for the day due to the injury, it seems that there is no dispute that you had the injury. Further, it seems that Verizon may have strict policies for training of employees pre and post accident. This really seems to be more of a union issue or contract issue. I would start there.
