Legal Question in Workers Comp in New York
if you have already signed a form for a settlement how long does it take to reci
My husband has been on workers comp. for going on four years now.We have had two lawyers and we are still not getting any where. The present lawyer has finally done something after we told him we would fire him if we didn't start seeing results. He send a contract to my husband to sign back in November last year to settle. He told my husband that it would only take two months and everything would be done. It has been two months now without one word. We have called him every day for the last two weeks only to hear his help say we will call you back. They never do. We have even sent letters in the mail to him and we still get no responce. Could you tell me what we are supose to do. Do we have any say in anything? Why won't his lawyer call or write us back?He has also applyed for social security diability a year ago. A hearing should be coming up soon. How do we handle that?

You should call the lawyer's office and make an appointment. The worse thing a lawyer can do is not return calls.
Social Security takes time and once you get rejection, you need to ask for hearing before administrative law judge.
I suggest you find a lawyer who will return calls.
