You need a Lawyer to lodge a Caveat. You must explain why you have an interest in the property which must be protected. The cost may by NZ$5-600.
A warning letter may be effective to stop someone telling lies about you. However, you must be ready to take legal action if you wish to threaten it, and this can be expensive. To do a letter could be $400. Court action could be $3-6,000.
