Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Zealand (Aotearoa)

Judgment enforcement

I've got a judgment in LA County Superior Court against a company with a HQ now in New Zealand. They used to have operations in the US but recently sold almost all their assets and moved out. They still got 2 rep offices in the US but I need to establish their relations.

Is there a chance for me to collect the judgment?

Can I sell it to somebody in the US that can collect against the judgment debtor overseas?

Re: Judgment enforcement

You need to contact a lawyer familiar with international law, and registration and enforcement of judgments in foreign countries. I would start with an attorney in New Zealand to see if they will recognize and allow you to register your judgment in NZ. If not, you can only levy against assets here in the US, and if they have none, then you probably have a valuless judgment. You can contact a debt collection agency, however, I doubt anyone will buy this debt from you.
