Is there a time lmit in New Zealand for contesting a will?

It depends on who is contesting it and why. For partners and family members a claim must usually be lodged either 6 months or 1 year from the grant of probate, depending on the statute relied upon. For people who were promised a share of the estate but were not named in the Will the limit is normally one year. These time limits can be extended but only by application to a Court.
