Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Nigeria

I need more info on Nigerian law

If I am claiming a large sum of money left by a relative in a Nigerian bank and the bank's policy is to submit an affidavit of claim with the high court of Nigeria before releasing the money, is this legal and if so how could I go about doing that from here in Colorado?

Re: I need more info on Nigerian law

Dear Sir,

IS THE BANKS DEMAND FOR AN AFFIDAVIT LEGAL

Every Bank in the country has a particular procedure for making of claims of this nature. We want to assume that your late relative had no will as such died interstate, i.e without a will.

Based on this the usual procedure is obtaing certain documents from the High court where he was domiciled, including an affidavit.

HOW DO I OBTAIN ONE

Your phyisical presence is not required for you to obatin such a document in Nigeria, if you have an attorney who could swear on your behalf, then he would send a copy to you in your country.

We hope the above satifies your inquiry, please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further clarification or assistance.
