Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Nigeria

Posing as an heir

I received via email a request from a Nigeria law firm to pose as an heir to an estate worth USD15 Million dollars. I have been offered 40% of this estate if I fill out an affidavit from the court of my (false) ''relationship'' to the deceased. The Nigeria law firm would supply the documents for me to complete. They have indicated to me this is totally legal.

This appears illegal to me. Should this be reproted? and to who.

These messages are frequently sent out. The Ohio Attorney General is aware of them I believe. You can forward them to the OAG but I would just delete it.

Re: Posing as an heir

First of all, this supposed transaction is very illegal in Nigeria and also attracts criminal convictions. It is also a scam being perpetuted by inviduals in Nigeria. These fraudsters are not usually lawyers but pose as one.

For the records every lawyer in Nigeria has an obligation to report any misdeed by a lawyer in the country to the Nigerian Bar Association. As such kindly send the name of this "lawyer" to theNigerian Bar Association Secretariat, Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos or to our office for onward trasnmission to the Nigerian Bar Association's Office.

Again please disregard this correspondence

thank you
