Legal Question in Banking Law in North Carolina
cashing a check
I run a small business and I am not making a lot so I need my money fairly quickly so I have checks made to me so I can go to the bank they are drawn on. There is one local bank however that will not cash a check drawn by their customers, if the amount is over $500, unless they contact their customer (drawer) first. This is very aggrevating and has wasted a lot of my time on many occasions. My question is this practice legal or do I have the right to demand they cash the check drawn on their bank to me as the payee?

Re: cashing a check
If the check is good and you have satisfied their ID requirements, failure to pay the check may constitute wrongful dishonor.
Q: DO you have any damages from the practice?
Delay of more than a business day etc.?
