Legal Question in Banking Law in North Carolina

Joint Savings Acct.

My mother and I have shared a savings account since I was a minor. I am now 21, and still live at home. When I told her I was planning to move out, she told me I could kiss my money goodbye. I never possessed access to the account number despite the account being in both of our names. I have approximately 2000 dollars in the account, out of my paychecks. Is my money out of my reach, or is there a way to get it without the account number since my name is on the account?

If you know what bank it is located at, bring your ID and SS # to the bank and inform them you would like to withdraw the money and close the account.
