Legal Question in Bankruptcy in North Carolina
Inheritance?
When you file for bankruptcy whos responsibility is it to notify you if you have any of the following, unclaimed funds, inheritance, dormant bank accounts etc. Is it the bankruptcy attorney or the trustees' responsibility? How can you claim them? Will they use them to payoff your debts?

Re: Inheritance?
It is the responsibility of the individual filing bankruptcy to provide complete and accurate answers to all questions contained in a bankruptcy petition. The petition's questions cover the items you refer to in your question. Those are all types of assets, and the filing individual must investigate his own situation and divulge the information to the Court.
The individual signs the bankruptcy petition under penalty of perjury, so obviously you want to be truthful.
As to what will happen to particular assets in a filed bankruptcy case, that depends on the type of asset and the exemptions that are available to the filer. This is very fact specific and so will vary from person to person. To get a reliable answer, you should contact an attorney who can analyze your particular facts.
