Legal Question in Bankruptcy in North Carolina
i have a judgement on my record from a collection agency. i was making payments to the agency that went out of business was is the next step to getting this taking care of and off my record.i have received no information on any company that has purchased the4 loan from the agency so i dont know who i am supposed to be making the payments too.

Assuming that the collection agency owns the debt and was not a mere agent for the original creditor you should check for bankruptcy filings for the collection agency. If they filed a Chapter 7, the trustee in bankruptcy is the person who is entitled to collect and will probably give a release on a much reduced lump sum payment. If the agency was not the owner of the debt, contact the owner of the debt. Otherwise, you will have to wait and see.
