Legal Question in Bankruptcy in North Carolina

Transfer from Chapter 13 to Chapter 7

My husband and I filed for a Chapter 13 bankruptcy about 1 1/2 years ago. We have been paying as agreed upon by the court. The term was set for 4 years. There is the possibility that we will be making some decent money in the coming year, and would like to get the bankruptcy discharged. We won't make enough to pay the entire amount owed, so we were wondering if it would be possible (or a good idea) to transfer to a Chapter 7 to get it discharged sooner. We would like to be able to begin rebuilding our credit and we don't want to have to wait another 2 1/2 years to do this. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Converting a Chapter 13 to a Chapter 7

You have an unrestricted right to convert acase under Chapter 13 to one under Chapter 7.All you need to do is give the bankruptcycourt and all your creditors notice of theconversion. Check with the lawyer who filedthe Chapter 13 for you.
