Legal Question in Business Law in North Carolina
liability
My classmate and I were planning our high school reunion. We reserved a room at the Holiday Inn for the event. However, due to the lack of payment from our classmates, we canceled the reunion. Now the Holiday Inn wants us to pay them 1200 dollars because we canceled 60 days before the date. Are my classmate and I to be held personally liable to pay that amount or is it a class debt?

Re: liability
It is definitely not a class debt. Assuming that you and your classmate signed a contract with the hotel, then you will each be personally liable for the cancellation fee. Of course, it would be nice if the other classmates would be willing to chip in, but the others would not be legally liable to the hotel. Sorry for the bad news.
