What is your question and why is this a business law issue?
This is a real estate issue and if a mortgage company is involved it sounds like the home was foreclosed on and a deficiency judgment was sought. The mortgage lender gets awarded pre-judgment interest at the contract rate. After judgment is entered, the maximum rate of interest accruing on the judgment is 8% per year.
Depending on youir circumstances, bankruptcy may be the best bet.
