Legal Question in Business Law in North Carolina

painters going to work on my house - they do not have insurance - can I protect myself with a clause in the contract that contractor is responsible for providing insurance or can I use a "Hold Harmless" clause or both - not sure is "Hold Harmless" is legal in North Carolina for injury or work comp

Any attorney will say don't deal with anyone who isn't a licensed contractor with adequate insurance and workers comp. A hold harmless won't hold up. Consult with a good business attorney in your area for specific advice.
