Legal Question in Business Law in North Carolina
I rent space for a business in a strip mall and the roof has developed major leaks leaving 2 of my rooms unusable everytime it rains causing damage to equiptment and extra expenses in having to constantly re-clean carpets and wash linens, not to mention the high amount of revenue being lost due to these rooms being -usable. This is a major problem since the town will not give out new business licenses to any space in this mall until a new roof is put on. What are my rights and options in a matter such as this?

It would depend in part on how your lease is written, but in general, you would be entitled to damages for the loss of use of part of your space. The first step would be to review your lease, document the leaking condition (photos, etc), and write a demand to your landlord to fix the space and compensate you for the losses you have incurred to date. You also can probably terminate your lease, if the landlord does not take appropriate action. Again, refer to your lease agreement for specifics.
