Legal Question in Business Law in North Carolina
We have started our own business and previous employer is making accusations to us and clients that we stole his business when in fact he detered the relationship with clients due to his inaccurate accusations. Should we hire an attorney to send a letter regarding our position and his regarding slander, etc. against us?

If you did not sign a document that qualifies as a valid non-competition agreement with your former employer, you are allowed to "steal" his clients. If his opinion is that you "stole" his clients, the incident may not qualify as slander. However, you may want to send a response to those customers explaining the situation.
