Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina
Appearing in court
I would just like to know if someone has to appear in a civil court case who has been subponeaed when they do not know what the case is really about?

Re: Appearing in court
generally speaking, if you're subpoenaed (properly), then you must appear, regardless of whether you know what the case is about. You have no "right" to know about the case. In an appropriate case, you can have the subpoena "quashed" or negated, but you would probably need a lawyer to do that.
