Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina
A cousin of a past girlfriend sent me text messages pretending to be a police officer doing an investigation on my place of employment, revealed that they are not a police officer, and then threatened me about a past relationship. They have threatened myself and my mother and have harassed us with the text messages. What legal action can I take if necessary? What are my options to get them to leave me alone?

Call the police. First, police officers don't text people in investigations. It is not reasonable to believe someone texting you is an officer investigating you. Call the police and report the threats.
