Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina

I live in my father's house, and I'm looking to get a method of self defense. Namely, a stun gun. My father however, is forbidding this... Considering I have a right to defend my self by the constitution(Second Amendment), is this NOT a violation of my Constitutional Rights? And if not, are any rights being violated period? I cannot quote the exact statute or whatever, but I am FAIRLY sure that I have a right to have a method of self-defense.
