Legal Question in Technology Law in North Carolina
If an employee has email marked "personal and confidential" on a business account and leaves the company by way of being fired or otherwise. Does the company have the right to access and read the email after the individual is gone? Two scenarios, interal company email and secondly email from outside of the company to the company email address.

Yes, they can look at the e-mail. The e-mail system is owned by the company and there is no expectation of privacy in e-mail sent to and from their e-mail system
