prepaid service
I had dialup Internet service with a local provider, this was a prepaid service, and I paid a year in advance and had the service for more than one year. In 2003 I did not renew this service but changed to another provider. Now more than a year and a half later the local provider says I owe him for four months service and he is going to sue me for it. How can I get behind in payments for a prepaid service? The amount he claims I owe is $92. What are my rights?

Re: prepaid service
Your rights depend on what your contract says. Many service contracts state that the contract terms will continue after your prepaid period ends unless you notify the company in advance that you want to cancel. There might be other provisions in your contract that obligate you to pay for more than what your initial payment covered.
