constitutional requirements for census

What information is the citizen required to surrender to the census taker?

What personal information is legally out of bounds for the taker to ask?

The census taker usually shows up only when you haven't returned the forms you received by mail. When she does show up, she typically asks only the questions that were on the form.

You have to answer all of the questions asked of you. Note that your answers will not be available to any other government agency. This includes the FBI, the IRS, and the ICE (which used to be called the INSS).
